Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the formal statement, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of banned ceremonies and fearsome transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine sect.
The questline focuses on "strange trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
